The Black+Decker 7-litre portable 2-in-1 is a basic device, but it looks smart and works reasonably well. Yes that's right, if you zoom in on the third image, that tiny cut-out on the left is the only place air comes out from, the rest of the venting is just decoration and utterly worthless. The advanced cooling system uses dual ice packs to improve the cooling performance and moisture being distributed into the room by evaporating cool water through the cooler's honey comb filtration system.

Air conditioners – which essentially work like a fridge –can be highly effective, but they tend to use lots of power and make a fair bit of noise. However, the necessary refrigeration would use more energy, negating some of this cooler’s energy savings over an air conditioner. They are not brand new and may have minor cosmetic imperfections and may have box damage or non original packaging. I opted for the manual version without a remote as I didnt want to pay extra for a remote than I knew I’d soon lose. While only a modest chill, this cooler treats a larger volume of air than smaller, personal devices.

Very light so easy to move up or down stairs but all ways empty it before you move it up or down stairs. The front is home to a substantial grille, but look closer and it’s apparent that air only exits from an area to the left. Also, my standard fan was just blowing around hot air but the air cooler actually works at cooling the air!

It doesn't really cool the room down but we're in the middle of a heatwave right now, but this fan definitely keeps me cool when it's pointed towards me. Overall a very good device provided you can reposition the mechanical button covers for Swing and Cool buttons.

It is fully functional and has been professionally refurbished, tested, inspected and cleaned to excellent condition by qualified sellers. You're better off manually leaving it at fan speed 1 for the entire night rather than use the "sleep" setting. The soft touch controls are easy to use when adjusting the desired speed settings and operating functions, with remote control operation that allows you to set the 7. This versatile Black+Decker BXAC65002GB portable air cooler can be used as a cooler, humidifier and fan for all year round use. It isn’t bad upgrade from a tower fan, but it can’t match an air conditioner for true cooling power.This certainly results in a fresh breeze, but it may not always be sufficient to lower the temperature of a room.
